Professional coaching is a comprehensive process that may involve different areas of your life, including work, finances, physical and mental health, relationships, education and recreation. A coach can help you clarify your goals, identify the obstacles holding you back, and help you come up with strategies for overcoming each obstacle. The purpose of the coaching relationship is to support you in achieving your goals.
Coaching is an intervention intended for people who wish to enhance their performance or improve their work or personal situation. Coaching does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders, and is not to be used as a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, substance abuse treatment, or other professional services.
Although coaching can be therapeutic, there are some differences between coaching and therapy; coaching may focus more on the present to help you create the future you desire, where as in therapy you may look more at your past to help you better manage your present and future life. However, in the course of coaching, I may rely on many of the same tools that I use in therapy to help you with your goals.
My approach to coaching is based on a variety of techniques that are tailored to meet each individual’s unique needs. I believe in a holistic approach that recognizes that the emotional, mental, spiritual and physical elements of each person. I believe that each client is creative, resourceful, and whole, and I honor each client as an expert in their own life and work.
