About

Ian O'Connor

Sometimes the beauty and opportunities that are present in the world can seem distant and blurry due to a variety of reasons within us, such as feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, and inattentiveness. Certain events, such as life changes and transitions, can feel like an overwhelming sense of uneasiness. I enjoy helping my clients navigate these challenges and explore underlying factors to help them see through the blurriness and the seemingly impossible, so they can live their lives with satisfaction and enjoy what the world has to offer, as we all deserve.

I enjoy working with clients at all stages of life, particularly older adolescents and young adults. I enjoy working with clients suffering from anger management problems, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and self-doubt. I have extensive knowledge of bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, and ADHD.  I utilize a humanistic and eclectic mix of treatment modalities that draw from the components of cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing that are used with a trauma-informed approach.

My education includes a master’s degree in social work and a bachelor’s degree in sociology with an emphasis in criminology. I have extensive experience working with youth and adults of all ages in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, which enhances my ability to understand and effectively utilize crisis intervention tools, as well as to build therapeutic relationships with my clients to help them navigate areas of concern.
